The 2020 Best Jobs rankings offer job seekers detailed information on training and education requirements, median salary, and job satisfaction across diverse sectors, including social services, education, construction, and creative and media. For individuals interested in pursuing science, technology, engineering and math, also known as the STEM fields, U.S. Tech positions make up the top seven of Glassdoor’s 50 best jobs for 2020, an annual ranking based on job satisfaction, median base salary and number of openings.

This year, front-end engineer, essentially a web developer that creates the look and feel of websites, displaced data scientist as the top best job. Other satisfying industries top jobs in 2020 to work in include Education, Energy, Architecture & Engineering and Technology. Industries with the least job satisfaction are Retail and Accommodation & Food Services. The least satisfying industries also suffer from reduced wages, but compensation is not the only reason for dissatisfaction.
